Preservation Studios is a nationally recognized historic preservation consulting firm with a strong presence in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, the Greater Northeast, Florida, and California.

For more than two decades, we have partnered with property owners, developers, and municipalities to successfully advance preservation and rehabilitation projects totalling over $1.4 billion in investments. Our team brings together architectural historians, urban planners, project managers, and specialized directors in municipal engagement, operations, and technical services.

In 2002, Tom Yots founded Preservation Studio after earning his Master’s degree in Architecture from the University at Buffalo. His son, Jason Yots, joined the firm in 2008, marking the transition to Preservation Studios. In 2013, Mike Puma and Derek King came on board as partners, and today the firm has grown into a consulting practice with a team of 10 employees.
